Julie: brown toast (part 2)
BY andrew lips
Julie had that ability to remind me of everything I wanted to be: Amelie the film, Mariella the song, Christina the dragqueen. All the forgettable greats.
Julie woke up feeling so fresh, she always did. She splashed her face with the water from a close stream and continued walking. Not far from the forest now behind her she gazed upon a large pink stone carved in to the shape of Kimya Dawson. Julie danced round it and kissed Dawson's feet. She fell to the floor giggling to herself when off in the distance she could hear something, little children crying. She crept through the thick dry grass and pounced on what was before her. She layed eyes on five little ice cream cones. They cried out "Please, don't eat us! We are merely the decoration for the centre piece, eat the ice cream!" She laughed and put them in her pocket. By the time she remembered about them they were all crushed and asleep forever. She spread their ashes on top of a mountain. She talked to Cavi about it, feeling slightly guilty for their death. Cavi assured her it was not her problem at all and if anything she was trying to be their friend.
Julie, feeling much better after her talk with Cavi decided there was no time to be sitting around worrying! She posted twelve letters in a rush of excitment. One to the Queen. It read "Hello there! Weather's nice isn't it? Toodle pip then!"
Julie eventually slowed down on her mission and the weather followed her feelings. As she walked through the thick fields the clouds would roar with thunder. Dark and worrying clouds for such a season. She lay on her back and stared into the dark sky. "Anything the matter, Julie?" asked Cavi. But Julie was oblivious to her surroundings. She just stared upwards for the next few hours. Until something in the sky caught her eye. First it was the size of a pin and then the size of a pie! A television gushed down from the sky speeding down fast, almost burning from the friction! It landed in front of Julie. Zuunk! A sofa fell also right behind her. She climbed up on the sofa and stared at the blank TV.
Suddenly the screen began to flicker, Julie lent in, not wanting to miss anything. She stared so long she thought she was going to go blind. Staring at her reflection in the screen until she eventually blinked after a while. Julie realised that she was staring at herself in the TV. Julie watched a film about herself. "The Life of Julie" they called it. "The Life of Julie" showed her first kiss, her first bruise, first time she knew she was different to everyone else. Then the future to come. Julie saw her with a room full of friends travelling around France, Exeter, America and Asia. It showed her wedding day and the day she died, lying on her bed, warm and happy with friends swamped around her for miles and miles. More people came to her service than Princess Diana's. Julie wept and smiled. She realised she was going to have a beautiful life. She just had to get up and start it.
As she brushed away her tears she turned and saw a pale white door standing in the field. She climbed over the sofa like a child and entered though the door with a smile bigger than Jesus himself, just after his resurrection. (Do you think he got an erection when he was on the cross? Wouldn't that of been so funny?)
Sorry i've lost where I was. Oh, there I am!
Years past and our quirky loveable character Julie became quite the mother. She married our little friend Cavi, who grew in to a beautiful lover and husband. They had two children: Skrinkle and Skroddle. Oh, I was at their house just last week, a BEAUTIFUL little cottage home in Cornwall, you should come visit too, they love the company. And oh didn't I mention? she bakes the most delicious cakes, they have cherries and Jelly Babies in them: Genius! Try not to come on Wednesday evening though, hun. That's family night. Oh it's so quaint. I popped in once. I was hiding in the fireplace. They play board games and charades. Oh, promise me you will come next week? It'll be so cute! You wait right there. I'm just going to make quick phone call to Julie. Tell her we are going next week, Ok?
Julie! How is Skrink and Skrod? Fabulous! And how is Mister C? You too are so adorable together! You sound wonderful, darling. Oh, didn't I tell you?! The reader is coming next week! Yeah! I picked them up at this internet place called The Tiny Globule and I had a feeling they wanted to meet you. They are so shy and sweet, you'll love them! So they are you guest for next week! How incredible is that?! I'll tell them to bring a few brooches and wooden spoons. You can NEVER have enough wooden spoons! Ha! Okay. Bye then! Mwah, mwah.
Okay then, Julie can't wait to see you! You'll love the kids and Cavi. Such an adorable family it must be said. Anyway, See you there next week then!
And they all lived happily ever after.
