LIVERPOOL FC BOY

The cupboard door is closed. From inside a boy’s voice can be heard. He is reciting the names of the Liverpool Football Club championship winning team of 1985-86, “Dalglish, Rush, Molby, Hansen, Lawrenson, Grobbelaar, Johnston, Whelan…” the boy intones, his words dripping with awe.
He names every member of the squad.
After a while he runs out of names so he repeats them. Eventually the cupboard door opens and the boy runs downstairs to demand Coca Cola in a glass with ice.
